Stella is REALLY loving life in her new home! She has a very active lifestyle with the two little boys in the family and is getting lots of play time and lots of love! We're so glad to see Stella so happy!!! <3 ...
Last week, a shelter employee, who was the first to arrive at work that day, noticed a pet carrier sitting outside our front door. She quickly retrieved the carrier and found a very large kitty inside! He was wet, scared, and sitting in a pool of his own urine, an indication that he was likely left overnight at our front door.
We scanned him for a microchip and found one! We quickly learned that his same is Sampson. When we called the number registered to the microchip, it was disconnected. When we "googled" the owner's name on the microchip, we learned that he had passed away a few months ago. In the owner's obituary, Sampson the cat was listed as a beloved survivor.
We are assuming that perhaps a family member or friend took Sampson in after his owner died. Sampson is in good health and, weighing in at 20 pounds, it is obvious he hasn't missed a meal. What we don't understand is how someone could just "dump" him on our doorstep without any explanation or information.
When we first removed Sampson from the carrier, he was terrified! We placed him into a shelter kennel and for the first few days, he his his face in the corner and meowed softly (as if crying!). All of us were devastated for poor Sampson. His owner (that obviously loved him) passed away. Then his new owners abandoned him by dumping him at the shelter. :(
After a few days of very intensive petting and cuddle sessions, we are happy to report that Sampson has come out of his shell! He's currently our free-range lobby cat and is enjoying all the love and snuggles he's receiving from everyone.
Sampson is around 8 years old, litter trained, and lovable. He deserves a forever home that will not "throw him away" when it is no longer convenient to care for him. If you are looking for a handsome loving feline companion, Sampson would be purr-fect for you!! Call for more information: 641-423-6241 (3 photos) ...
