The Humane Society of North Iowa oversees and manages day to day animal care at the shelter and facilitates animal reclaims and adoptions. Please complete a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.masoncity.net\/forms.aspx?fid=520&amp;catid=481\">Missing Animal Report<\/a>\u00a0providing as much information as possible about your missing pet. This report notifies the Animal Control Officer and the staff of the Humane Society of North Iowa and the Mason City Stray Animal Shelter.\u00a0 We will attempt to reach you should an animal come into the shelter that matches the details you provide in the Missing Animal Report.\u00a0 Pet owners are also encouraged to check the Humane Society of North Iowa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hsni.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">website<\/a> to see if their pet is in the shelter.\u00a0 All animals brought in as stray are held for 7 calendar days from intake to allow an owner time to reclaim them. More information about reclaims is below.<\/p>\n<h3>Found Animals:<\/h3>\n<p>Have you found a stray domestic animal in our community? Please call the Mason City Police Department (641-421-3636) and they will come to pick it up.\u00a0 Found animals must be contained in a portable kennel or other suitable enclosure for transport. All stray animals found in the city limits are taken to the Mason City Stray Animal Shelter (co-located and managed by the Humane Society of North Iowa).\u00a0 Pet owners have 7 calendar days from intake to reclaim their pet. If an animal is not reclaimed, it is made available for adoption after the 7th day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_ydp6fa659eayiv0467643498MsoNormal\">To reclaim a pet, you must be able to provide proof of ownership.
