TAILS OF SUCCESS: Here's an update from Opal (formerly Capri Sun)...It has been nine months since I adopted Opal, and it has been a lesson in learning and patience for both of us! She was very shy, but with a lot of patience and love, she is learning to trust me more every day. Finding out a little about her background helped me to understand her much better. She went to get her shots and a check-up this morning, and she was so good. She loves to look out the windows and watch the birds and squirrels. And she loves to cuddle, but she chooses when! I am so happy to have her. She is the perfect cat for me, I love her so much! You guys are awesome! Thank you for everything you do!

Shelter adoption alumni LILY celebrated her 15th birthday today and her mama, Brenda Adams, honored the special occasion by giving her a Quinceanera! 🩷🩷Brenda got Lily a special dress for the occasion and then asked friends for donations to the shelter instead of gifts to celebrate Lily's big day!
Brenda recently represented Iowa in the Miss Petite Elite Pageant and visited the shelter today with Lily donning her beautiful tiara and sash from the pageant! She also brought in all the awesome donations that people gave in honor of Lily. 🩷🩷
Brenda has adopted many dogs from our shelter over the years and she has a soft spot for the seniors because she knows they get overlooked.
It was the highlight of our day to see Lily in her beautiful dress and living her best life as a pampered princess!! 👑👑👑👑

These two cuties were passing through the lobby on their way back to vet room to be weighed and I just had to snap this adorable pic!!Tarzan (left) and Jane (right) are siblings kittens that came in as strays a few weeks ago looking pretty scrawny. But after lots of lovins and food, they are both gaining weight and doing really well! They are both looking for their forever homes (together would be awesome, but not required!)

Huge thanks to our friends at Lake Animal Clinic in Clear Lake for organizing the Hot Dog Hustle 2026 event that took place last month during Thursdays on Main in City Park! The proceeds from the event were being donated to the Humane Society of North Iowa and yesterday, I picked up a check for $1000 from the clinic!!! Wow!!! This is a wonderful donation and helps us to purchase food and supplies for the shelter animals.Thanks again to everyone at Lake Animal Clinic for their hard work and effort to put on such a fun and exciting event! Thanks to all of the wiener dog owners who showed up to participate and race their dogs! And thanks to everyone from the community that came out to support such a fun event!!!
