Gilbert is a gentle soul wrapped in a sturdy little pitbull body—a white-coated sweetheart with soft eyes that seem to ask, “Is it okay if I trust you?” Life hasn’t always been kind to him. He came in young, a stray, sticking close to his loyal pal Arnie, unsure of the world but hoping it might finally be safe.
Bashful by nature, Gilbert doesn’t rush into anything. He takes his time, watching, learning, quietly building courage one small step at a time. But behind that timid start is an incredibly loving heart. Once he knows you, he leans in softly, offering the kind of sweetness that feels earned and deeply real.
Gilbert is looking for someone patient and kind—someone who will show him that life doesn’t have to be scary. In return, he’ll teach you something too: how trust grows, how love can be gentle, and how even the shyest hearts can bloom when given the chance.

Adoption fee covers the following veterinarian services: spay/neuter surgery, age appropriate vaccinations, flea and dewormer treatment, feline leukemia/FIV test in cats, heartworm test for dogs.
Animals listed with the Mason City Stray Animal Shelter will be held for 7 days from the “Entry Date” to give the opportunity for an owner to reclaim them. If not reclaimed, the animal will be made available for adoption to the public.
