Tails of Success!!!You may remember Bubba a dog that was brought into the Mason City Stray Animal Shelter last fall. He was severely neglected and full of painful matts. We were able to have him groomed and become healthy once again. Shortly after he was adopted. Here are some before photos of Bubba and how he's doing now with his family.
Update from the family:
Hello everyone from sunny Arizona.
We thought it is time for an update on Bubba since we have had him for 6 months now.
He made the trip from Iowa to Arizona without one problem. Until the day before we left to come out here, I wasn't sure if we should bring him because he was still a bit snappy. (He had lived so long in pain sometimes he was unsure about touch) But, we have not had many snaps for along while now. He lets us know when it is bed time,, sleeping is one of his favorite activities and he will growl at dad when he comes to bed or if he wakes us up to early. Its soooo funny. We can pick him up now and he absolutely loves cuddling, hugging and giving poochie moochies. When he wants to go for a walk, he noses his leash. Everywhere we go he goes, we can't get out of the door without him, lol. The people in our park/ resort are so impressed with him, he is one of the best behaved dogs in the park. We love him with our whole hearts and we would be lost without him. I believe he feels the same. He still loves playing and chasing his tennis balls and we found a really nice dog park out here where he makes friends every time we go there. There are so many funny/ cute things I could tell you about, but I think you get the picture. Thank you so much for giving us this little best friend!!! The world is better with Bubba. Do you love his goatee???
Bubba was able to be matched up with such an amazing family. They live between Iowa and Arizona and Bubba is now a seasoned traveler. What a great happy ending for our sweet guy. ... See MoreSee Less

DONATION REQUEST!!!There are several dogs in the shelter (Banjo, Lennon and Yoko) who have sensitive tummies and most of the foods we've been feeding them has not agreed with them. 💩💩🫣
We finally found one that did...but we are almost out! We are so glad to have found something that works for them and want to keep them happy and healthy.
Can you help us out by ordering a bag of this food for them online?

🎶Here's the story, of a lovely lady....🎶Well, now that you've got THAT song stuck in your head all day....let me introduce you to THE PUPPY BUNCH!!! For real this time-here's the story....
Last December, a beautiful Lab/Boxer mix came into the Mason City Stray Animal Shelter (co-located and managed by the Humane Society of North Iowa) as a stray. She was held for 7 days for an owner to reclaim, but no one came forward.
It was discovered rather quickly that the dog (that we named Lilian) was VERY pregnant! Just a few weeks later, she was placed into foster care and Lilian gave birth to 9 healthy puppies!
Now...ALL 9 puppies are looking for a furever home! And we know, it's much more than a hunch, that you should adopt a cutie from our Puppy Bunch!!!! ;)
An approved Adoption Application is required prior to interacting with the puppies. More information, as well as our Adoption Application, can be found on our website: www.hsni.org ... See MoreSee Less

I’m Tika and I arrived here at the shelter very pregnant exactly one year ago. Once settled in, I quickly gave birth to 6 healthy kittens. Now that my kittens are old enough to be adopted I’m ready for my next adventure. I’m a very sweet girl who loves to greet people with a big hello. I recently moved into a community cat room and I love it! Sometimes staff even catches me and my buddy Ping chasing each other. I’m hoping my future home has other cats I can be friends with. Please call the Humane Society of North Iowa at 641-423-6241 for more information. ... See MoreSee LessCalendar
